WHO WE ARE

Almost one third of the land area in Cambodia is dedicated to agricultural activities but Cambodia still relies on import produces from neighboring countries. The challenges with regards to the Cambodian agrifood sector primarily include poor agricultural practices and technology, such as usage of inappropriate chemical inputs, prevail among smallholders, posing serious health hazards to the rural population and consumers. This is mainly due to the lack of awareness and vocational training on organic and good agricultural practices (GAP) as well as lack of availability of non-chemical inputs.

Fruits are the means by which angiosperms disseminate seeds. Edible fruits, in particular, have propagated with the movements of humans and animals in a symbiotic relationship as a means for seed dispersal and nutrition; in fact, humans and many animals have become dependent on fruits as a source of food.[1] Accordingly, fruits account for a substantial fraction of the world’s agricultural output, and some (such as the apple and the pomegranate) have acquired extensive cultural and symbolic meanings.
